Regional Phenotyping of CF and Non-CF Bronchiectasis
The Investigators propose to study pediatric subjects who are diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) and patients with non-CF bronchiectasis, with the goal of developing markers of CF lung disease severity, progression, and therapy response. The Investigator's central hypothesis is that image-based markers can forecast pathophysiology prior to spirometric changes.
Parametric Response Mapping (PRM) for the Detection of Chronic Lung Injury in Hematopoietic Cell Transplant Recipients
The study will have two separate patient cohorts: Cohort 1 will include patients with newly diagnosed chronic graft versus host disease (GVHD), whereas cohort 2 will include patients with newly diagnosed chronic lung disease (CLD). For cohort 1, the primary objective will be to characterize PRM metrics at the onset …
M. Avium WGS During Mav-PD Treatment
This is a prospective observational study using whole genome sequencing (WGS) to investigate whether new strains (other than the initially identified strain(s)) of M. avium are responsible for persistently culture positive sputum during treatment (refractory disease), or the reversion to culture positive sputum after prior conversion to negative. The study …
The Cardiac Stress and Electrocardiographic Changes Caused by Lung Cancer Surgery
Lung cancer surgery causes significant changes in the small circulation as well as changes in the intrathoracic anatomy. The effects of lung cancer surgery on electrocardiography and the cardiac stress associated with the procedures have not been previously extensively studied. The aim of the present study is to ascertain whether …
Development and Clinical Validation of Early-stage Lung Cancer Prognostic Kit
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide in spite of the advanced progresses in medication and low-dose CT screening. The early-stage lung cancer accounts for less than 50% of newly diagnosed lung cancer in Taiwan, even in stage IB patients proximately 30% still suffer from recurrence and …
Piloting a Virtual Navigation (VN) System for Bronchoscopic Lung Nodule Sampling
The overall goal is to evaluate the role of a Virtual Navigation (VN) system (the Virtual Navigator) in the bronchoscopic evaluation and tissue sampling of lung cancer and other chest lesions at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center (HMC). The Virtual Navigator is a software package that runs on a …
COr Loco-regional Advanced Lung Cancer Treated With Chemo-radiotherapy (COLA)
Patients with loco-regional NSCLC planned for curative treatment with chemoradiotherapy will be invited to participate in a prospective study; besides routine treatment, the patients will be followed with an ECG and cardiac MR for at least two years after radiotherapy treatment.
Frailty, Physical Capacity and Lung Function in Postoperative Pulmonary Endarterectomy Patients
The goal of this observational and prospective study is to investigate changes in physical performance, lung function, respiratory and peripheral muscle strength in patients during the postoperative period following pulmonary endarterectomy (PET).
The Use of Molecular Radiogenomics in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
Lung cancer is currently the leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, and the dominant histopathology is non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Although many new targeted and immunomodulation therapies have emerged, not all patients are responsive to novel therapeutics. A more reliable and accurate risk stratification model to predict the treatment …
Respiratory and Psychological Impact of Elective Surgery of Congenital Lung Malformations
The absence of surgery of Congenital lung malformations (CLMs), if it avoids a stressfull event, is accompanied by a "medicalization" of the child, which will be regularly followed up in a specialized medical and surgical environment. The persistent risk of complication, albeit low, is likely to induce over-protective parental behaviours, …
