Evaluation of a Switchable Acrylic Adhesive Drape for Safer Removal in Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Applications.
Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is widely used for chronic and acute wounds, severe burns, and post-operative care. Despite its benefits, the strong adhesive required to maintain an airtight seal increases the risk of medical adhesive-related skin injuries (MARSI), pain, and discomfort during removal. Global Biomedical Technologies (GBT) aims to …
Transversus Abdominis Plane Block Versus Wound Infiltration for Pulmonary Function Preservation Following Laparoscopic Living Donor Nephrectomy
This study compares two pain control techniques in patients undergoing laparoscopic kidney donation surgery: transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block versus wound infiltration with local anesthetic. Postoperative pain can impair breathing by causing patients to take shallow breaths to avoid discomfort. This study will evaluate which technique better preserves lung function, …
Connectivity and Neural Signatures of Consciousness in Unresponsive States
The CONSCIUS study is a prospective, interventional study including patients with acute brain injury and impaired consciousness implanted with intracranial electrodes. The aim of the study is to investigate seizures and thalamocortical neural dynamics underlying behavioral unresponsiveness.
Carbon Dioxide Administration and Brain Waste Clearance
The current study tests whether different exposures to carbon dioxide (CO2) can safely result in the increased movement of proteins from the brain into the blood. The investigators believe that this would be a proxy for the brain clearing waste products more effectively. The current study will use a counter-balanced …
Eye Recovery Automation for Post Injury Dysfunction (iRAPID)
This study will test a portable virtual reality (VR) system with integrated eye tracking called Virtual Eye Rotation Vision Exercises (VERVE). The proposed VERVE platform will deliver vergence therapy in an automated manner. This research will involve 30 non-traumatic brain injury (TBI) binocularly normal (BNC) Veterans and 50 post-traumatic convergence …
Problem-Solving Training for Concussion
Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), also known as concussion, is a common injury sustained by Veterans. While most individuals who sustain mTBI experience a complete recovery within several weeks of injury, many Veterans with history of mTBI report frequent and long-lasting neurobehavioral complaints and functional impairment. Though research suggests that …
Impact of an Intervention With a Narrative Approach in Overusers: A Clinical Trial
The goal of this clinical trial is to compare an intervention with a narrative therapy-based approach with standard care in overusers in general practice . The main question it aims to answer are: • An intervention with an approach based on narrative therapy can improve the perception of emotional support, …
Pilot Study Evaluating brainQuant's Ability to Detect Alterations in White Matter in Diffusion MRI, Indicative of Post-traumatic Lesions
Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a neurodegenerative disease described in boxing, but also in contact sports such as American football. Soccer, due to repeated headers, could also be associated, albeit to a lesser degree, with the development of this type of pathology. Indeed, it has been shown that playing soccer …
Exercise Reset for Concussion in a Military Environment
Our primary objective is to show that early, personalized aerobic exercise treatment safely improves concussion recovery, speeds RTD, and reduces persistent symptoms in CSM. Our secondary objectives include demonstrating the clinical utility of our March-in-place test and determining fundamental mechanisms for the effect of exercise rehabilitation on concussion recovery.
NAD+ Augmentation in Cardiac Surgery Associated Myocardial Injury Trial
A Randomized, Double-blind, placebo-controlled Trial to Evaluate the Efficacy of Oral Nam for the Prevention of Acute Kidney Injury in Patients Undergoing On-Pump Cardiac Surgery
