Regional Phenotyping of CF and Non-CF Bronchiectasis

The Investigators propose to study pediatric subjects who are diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) and patients with non-CF bronchiectasis, with the goal of developing markers of CF lung disease severity, progression, and therapy response. The Investigator's central hypothesis is that image-based markers can forecast pathophysiology prior to spirometric changes.

Study on Disease Progression and Nutritional Status in Bronchiectasis

Bronchiectasis is a common lung disease. The Bronchiectasis Severity Index (BSI) is a widely used assessment system. The body mass index (BMI) is a commonly used measure of nutritional status, but it has its limitations. To provide a more comprehensive assessment, the investigators also consider other nutrition-related indices such as …

Microbiology and Treatment Outcome of Acute Exacerbation of Bronchiectasis in Hong Kong

Bronchiectasis is a common disease worldwide with a high burden on healthcare resources. In Hong Kong (HK), local microbiological and clinical data regarding acute exacerbation of bronchiectasis (AEB) is lacking, in particular the frequency of pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) in AEB is yet to be elucidated. A better understanding of the …

The Clinical Significance of CT-based Biomarkers in the Classification and Prognosis of Bronchiectasis

As the third major chronic airway disease in China, bronchiectasis has a wide range of patients. However, the involved sites, morphological features and airway obstruction of bronchiectasis are varied, and clinical heterogeneity is high, making prognosis and severity difficult to evaluate. CT plays an important role in the diagnosis and …

When they do, this is mostly as a chronic lung infection in people with long-term lung problems such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, or cystic fibrosis. The number of people …

Exploring How Viral Infections Affect People With Chronic Lung Disease

Many people with chronic lung disease have disease flare-ups. It was previously believed that these were mainly caused by bacteria but recent evidence suggests that viruses could be an important trigger. This study will recruit volunteers with chronic lung disease and take samples both when well (at baseline) and during …

SWEEP: Shuttle Walking Test for Exercise Evaluation in Pulmonary Resection

This is a prospective observational study that evaluates whether the Shuttle Walking Test (SWT) can predict postoperative symptoms, particularly dyspnea, in patients with chronic respiratory diseases undergoing lung resection. Currently, tools such as DLCO or cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) are used to assess surgical risk and exercise capacity before lung …
