Multiparametric Home Telemonitoring of Patients With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Exacerbation
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations are risk factors for disease progression and short-term re- hospitalizations. We propose a randomized controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy of a one-device multiparameter telemonitoring in reducing functional decline, symptoms, and risk of re-hospitalization of patients discharged after hospitalization for exacerbated COPD.
The Effects of Positive Airway Pressure on the Mucolytic Effects of NAC (TEAM)
The goal of this clinical trial is to determine if positive pressure during inspiration will improve penetration of aerosolized N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) into airway mucus plugs in the lungs of patients with asthma or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The main questions it aims to answer are: Does delivery of aerosolized …
APP-based Medical Device for Education and Training of Inhalation Technique
Primary aim: To investigate if app-based education and training of inhalation technique improves the rate of successful inhalation techniques compared with control group at 6-12 weeks follow-up visit. Secondary aims: To evaluate the feasibility, usability, and safety of the investigational during the study period. Study design: Two-armed, parallel-designed, individual single-blinded …
Evaluation of 3D Magnetic Resonance Spirometry: Comparison with Spirometry in Healthy Subjects and Patients with Respiratory Pathologies (asthma, COPD, Bilateral Lung Transplant)
Spirometry is now the gold standard technique for assessing lung function in humans. From the shape of a flow-volume curve measured while the patient, trained by the practitioner, performs forced breaths, the forced vital capacity (FVC) and the forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) can be deduced and the …
Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Undiagnosed Asthma or COPD: THE UCAP 2 TRIAL
Our research group has found that Canadians with undiagnosed asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have increased respiratory symptoms and worse health-related quality of life. The investigators recently developed and validated an on-line questionnaire to accurately identify these symptomatic, undiagnosed individuals. The investigators will advertise in the community asking …
The Effect of Motivational Interviewing-Based Education on Treatment Adherence and Self-Care Agency in COPD Patients
This randomized controlled trial will be conducted to evaluate the effect of education and motivational interviewing on treatment adherence and self-care power in COPD patients. Hypotheses of the Study; H1: Education and motivational interviewing in COPD patients increase treatment adherence in patients. H2: Education and motivational interviewing in COPD patients …
The Reducing REVISITS Study: A Cluster RCT
This type II hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial will concurrently study the comparative effectiveness of virtual vs. in-person COPD care transition programs implemented via virtual mentored implementation approaches with and without co-design methods. The investigators will enroll up to 24 randomized sites (with a goal minimum of 16 sites) to: Deliver the …
Assessment of Breathing Pattern During NIV
COPD and OHS are respiratory conditions that disrupt normal breathing. Positive airway pressure, specifically Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV), has been shown to improve breathing and reduce symptoms in patients with these conditions. Regular use of NIV can lead to better symptom management, improved quality of life, and reduced use of healthcare …
Prehospital Non-invasive Ventilation for Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
The goal of this clinical trial is to test if treatment with prehospital Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) for patients with acute respiratory failure (ARF), due to acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) based on in-hospital criteria, should be used in the prehospital setting. This is performed with the introduction …
Atorvastatin Effect on Reduction of COPD Exacerbations
It is a randomized, multicenter, prospective, double-blind, placebo controlled, interventional clinical trial that will be conducted in Poland, in about 12 Hospital Pulmonary Departments to evaluate the effectiveness of atorvastatin on the reduction of inflammation process in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, and possible biomarkers for personalized treatment of …
