COmmencing Menopausal HOrmone Replacement Therapy and the Effect on Metabolic-dysfunction Associated Steatotic Liver Disease: a Pilot Mechanistic Study
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is the most common cause of chronic liver disease worldwide, currently affecting approximately 1-in-4 people globally. The prevalence is expected to rise further, driven at least partly by the epidemic of obesity and diabetes. MASLD is a condition of fat build-up in the liver …
A Study Comparing IBI362 vs Semaglutide in Chinese Overweight or Obese Adults With Metabolic Dysfunction-associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD)
This is a multicenter, randomized, open-label Phase 3 clinical study comparing the efficacy and safety of IBI362 9 mg QW versus Semaglutide 2.4 mg QW in overweight or obese (BMI≥27kg/m2) MAFLD subjects. Subjects will be randomly assigned to IBI362 9 mg and Semaglutide 2.4 mg groups. All study treatment will …
Lusutrombopag Combined With Recombinant Human Thrombopoietin for the Treatment of Thrombocytopenia in Patients With Chronic Liver Disease Destined to Undergo Elective Invasive Surgery
To assess the efficacy and safety of lusutrombopag combined with recombinant human thrombopoietin for the treatment of thrombocytopenia in patients with chronic liver disease destined to undergo elective invasive surgery.
Bloody or Well Done. How Would You Like Your Liver Biopsy, Sir?
This is a randomized comparative trial between percutaneous liver biopsy and EUS FNB guided liver biopsy in patients with parenchymal liver disease. Studies so far have been shown that EUS FNB guided liver biopsy is non inferior to percutaneous liver biopsy in terms of efficacy, provided several conditions are met …
Effect of Perioperative Oral Rifaximin on Early Graft Dysfunction in Adult Living Donor Liver Transplant
Liver transplantation has been a lifesaving treatment for individuals with end stage liver disease and acute liver failure. However, initial poor function of a liver allograft after liver transplantation, termed early graft dysfunction (EGD), has been associated with increased allograft loss or mortality after transplantation. EGD in LDLT is multifactorial. …
A Precision Medicine Approach Using Gene Silencing to Treat a Chronic Liver Disease Called Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH) in Adult Participants at Increased Genetic Risk for This Condition
This study is researching an investigational drug, ALN-HSD called "study drug". This study is focused on participants who are known to have metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). MASH is a form of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). MASH occurs when fat builds up in liver cells, damaging them, and making …
MSC Therapy in Liver Transplantation
The general aim of the present study is to test a cell therapy with third-party allogeneic ex-vivo expanded MSCs as a strategy to induce tolerance in liver transplant recipients. MSCs will be prepared accordingly to established protocols , starting from diagnostic samples of bone marrow aspirates (2-5 mL) or using …
LT for Unresectable Colorectal Liver Metastasis
Unlike hepatocellular carcinoma, liver transplantation in patients with liver metastasis from colorectal cancer is limited in only few centers. Previously, it was not generally implemented due to lack of organs and high recurrence rates after transplantation. However, due to progressive development in treatments, good results such as increased survival rates …
Ablation With Confirmation of Colorectal Liver Metastases (ACCLAIM)
To demonstrate that microwave ablation (MWA) of up to 3 hepatic metastases, each with a maximum diameter of ≤ 2.5 cm will result in a 2-year local progression free survival of at least 90%. This is a standard of care (SOC) study.
Preoperative Prehabilitation in Patients Planned for Liver Transplantation
The objective of this study is to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of a home-based multimodal prehabilitation program in patients anticipated to be waitlisted for LT. Patients will participate in an eight week prehabilitation program consisting of physical exercise, nutritional support, smoking cessation and psychological counselling.
